TIPS for 6 months to 3 years, there first time in the water!

It is never too early to start teaching your child how to swim!

There are so many swimming classes available all over the world, but to be honest in my opinion they are a waste of time and money.

If your child is between the age of 6 months to 3 years then the following tips are all you need to get your child water ready.

Age 6 months to 3 years first TIPS on how to learn to swim

Head Submerged:

  • Regular pool visits (or bath time) where you submerge your child in the water for 1 second (this can also just include pouring water over there head so that it goes over there eyes) The best way to do this is to include a nursery rhyme and to make it enjoyable.

Blowing Bubbles:

  • This is one of the easiest for you to do with your child, having them observe how easy this is for you will eventually teach them to have there mouth in the water. Simply place your lips on the top of the water line and blow small air bubbles.

  • Place your child on there back on the surface of the water and place your palm on the base of there back to help them float. You are to try and have your child comfortable to lie there still. You need to ensure there head is flat and they are looking at the ceiling and that there bum is also up so there body is in one line. The key is to eventually be able to remove the palm of your hand without them noticing over time.

Once your child has successfully completed the 3 above tasks you will be shocked to learn that you are well on your way to learning the technical skills.

I hope these tips are helpful and feel free to ask any questions.
